BANNING, CA — A man who allegedly kicked in a motel room door in Banning and attacked a woman he knew pleaded not guilty to all charges and is due in court Monday.
Hector Puga Sanchez, 32, faces one count each of kidnapping and inflicting corporal injury on a spouse/coinhabitant, both felonies. He also faces a sentencing enhancement of great bodily injury/domestic violence.

Shortly before 9 p.m. June 11, Banning police were called to the Days Inn at 2320 W. Ramsey Street regarding a disturbance at the motel. Witnesses said a man, identified as Sanchez, kicked in the motel room door and dragged a woman out by force, according to police. He fled before officers arrived.

Police spoke to the victim on June 15. She sustained serious bodily injury in the attack and identified Sanchez as the assailant, according to the Banning Police Department.
On June 20, Sanchez was arrested after police tracked him down at a transient encampment near S. 22nd Street and the railroad tracks. He is being held at Banning’s Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility with no bail set for him. According to court records, he is due to appear in court July 3 for a felony settlement conference.
