Expansion Underway At Homer Glen Silver Cross Emergency Center

HOMER GLEN, IL — The expansion to the Silver Cross Freestanding Emergency Center in Homer Glen should be completed in early 2024, Director of Marketing and Communications Debra Robbins told Patch.

The center, which opened in 2009 at 143rd and Bell Road in Homer Glen, has six private exam rooms and one procedure room. It offers imaging and testing services like a lab, EKG, x-ray, CT, MRI and ultrasound, Robbins said.

The center has the capacity to care for 25 patients a day with little or no wait. If needed, patients could also be transferred by ambulance to Silver Cross Hospital for critical interventions or admission.

“As word has spread throughout the community about the unrivaled care and low wait times at our Homer Glen ER, more and more patients continue to seek care there,” Robbins said. The center now cares for nearly twice as many patients per day compared to when it first opened.

Robbins said Silver Cross has invested $1.8 million in the center to “accommodate the growing need and eliminate the growing wait time.”

The expansion will add three additional treatment rooms, relocate ultrasound inside the building, and expand the lab workspace and blood drive.

Construction on the expansion has already started, and should be finished early next year.
