FRANKFORT, IL — The Frankfort Fire Protection District Station 73 had a section of its steel roof blown off during severe weather on Friday night, Fire Chief Sean Fierce told Patch.

Six tornadoes have been confirmed so far by the National Weather Service, including an EF-0 tornado from Midewin Prairie to Peotone, which would have come near the Frankfort station at 24420 S. La Grange Road.
Fierce said the wind damage happened at 11:15 p.m. on Friday, and a 6o-foot by 4o-foot section of the station roof blew off, sending debris throughout the property.

“The building has since been secured, and there is no damage estimate at this time,” Fierce said.
The station is still in service, and will be able to respond to calls for service as it undergoes repairs.

Fierce said the District did not receive any other reports of buildings damaged on Friday night.
