Horror Stars To Visit Farmingdale's Necromantic Brew Co.

FARMINGDALE, NY — A scream queen and king are set to visit Necromantic Brew Co., a horror movie-themed brewery in Farmingdale, on Dec. 17 for the “Dismember to Remember” event, the brewery announced.

Felissa Rose and Dave Sheridan will come to the brewery, at 253 Main Street, from 1 to 7 p.m. that day for a triple feature, film commentary, photo opportunities donning the costumes from their films, and trivia, said Ralph Mandarino, who owns the brewery.

Rose starred in “Sleepaway Camp,” while Sheridan portrayed Officer Doofy and Ghostface in “Scary Movie.” The third movie, which will be sandwiched between the first two, is “Victor Crowley,” which Rose and Sheridan both starred in.

“They are very good friends and friends of the brewery,” Mandarino told Patch. “We’re really excited.”

Tickets can be purchased here and are divided into three tiers. The third tier is standing room only for $100. The second tier, $150, gets people access to the meet and greet, one beer, a photo with Rose or Sheridan, and a seat. The $225 VIP ticket gets someone a poster, meet and greet, two pours of beer, three costumed photo opportunities (one with Rose, one with Sheridan, and one with both), and a premium seat.

Mandarino said he met Rose and Sheridan some years ago when they appeared at horror conventions as Mandarino was purchasing the memorabilia he has hanging on the walls of Necromantic. Mandarino discovered he and Rose are both graduates of Syosset High School. Rose’s mother still lives in New York, so Rose frequently visits from Los Angeles. Sheridan, a fellow L.A. resident, befriended Rose at horror conventions they both frequented.

Their schedules coincided for the holiday meet and greet.

“I’m thrilled, because I’ve been invited by them to certain conventions, especially in Atlantic City; Edison, Pennsylvania; so I always feel like I’m on their turf, visiting them,” Mandarino said. “But now having the ability to invite them here, it’s like welcoming your friends in for the very first time.”

Mandarino said he is “very happy” to have Rose and Sheridan at the brewery, but their presence will bring a bit of “added pressure” to ensure everything happens without a hitch. The brewery has been preparing special beers for each Rose and Sheridan.

Chillin and Killin, a hazy IPA in honor of Sheridan’s characters, Officer Doofy and Ghostface from “Scary Movie,” was brewed at Sheridan’s request. Rose is celebrating the 40th anniversary of “Sleepaway Camp” this year, so the brewery is doing Nightmare by the Campfire, a s’mores stout brewed with marshmallow and chocolate, featuring crushed gluten-free graham cracker on the rim.

Mandarino said the event won’t be a regular meet-and-greet one would get at a typical convention. The brewery will be open at 1 p.m.; the actor and actress will be there promptly, and they’re not leaving until everyone watches all three movies — around five hours of film. Rose and Sheridan will be hosting the trivia, and prizes will be given out.

More importantly, it’s an intimate setting,” Mandarino said. “Whereas, when you’re at a convention, it’s crowded, you’re on a line, there are 100 people there. We’re a small venue here. When we hosted Ari Lehman, the biggest compliment that we got was, people felt like they got tremendous value for the dollars spent on tickets, because they actually got face time, one-on-one interaction with these celebrities, and the behind the scenes information, which is invaluable. They’re going to do a Q&A, and of course, throughout the film, they’re going to give their perspective as to their experiences on set during the filming of these films, as well. Once you realize what you’re getting and that it’s limited to a certain amount of people, I think it’s a pretty exciting event that we’ve put together.”
