OSWEGO, IL — One person was hospitalized after a car crashed Sunday night and landed partially in a pond in Wheatland Township, according to officials at the Oswego Fire Protection District.
Oswego firefighters and paramedics were dispatched around 8:59 p.m. to the intersection of Schoger Drive and Ramm Drive after the single-car crash, officials said. Battalion Chief Jeff Warren told Patch that only the car’s front tires ended up in the water.
Will County sheriff’s deputies arrived about 10 minutes prior after receiving a call from a woman whose 78-year-old mother called her to tell her she drove her car off the road and into a pond, spokesperson Kathy Hoffmeyer told Patch.

The Chevy Traverse she was driving was standing in the water, the woman told her daughter. Deputies found the woman standing in the pond and helped get her out before taking her to Rush Copley Medical Center, according to Hoffmeyer.
Oswego paramedics said the woman had no serious visible injuries. Medical staff advised the woman would be held for observation, Hoffmeyer said.
