FARMINGDALE, NY — The Farmingdale State men’s basketball team is off to its best start in school history. The squad is 16-1, including 8-0 in the Skyline Conference.
Seniors Corey Powell and Aaron Davis are part of the keys to the Rams’ success. The teammates also played together at Valley Stream South High School.
“We know each other’s games,” Powell told Patch. “We have great coaches here, so everything is just coming together really nicely this year.”

Powell topped 1,000 points during his college career, while Davis is one of the Division III’s best in 3-point field goal percentage.
“The personal accolades are cool, but as a team we thrive together,” Davis said. “I can’t shoot that well without getting good passes from my teammates.”

Head coach Brendan Twomey is in his 11th year at Farmingdale State.
“He’s a good coach,” Davis said. “He reminds us every day that we’re the top dogs.”
As Powell and Davis play their final season at Farmingdale, they have different thoughts about the future.
“If I were able to extend that opportunity then I would try and pursue it,” Davis said.
Powell, though, does not have plans for turning pro, “which makes this season even more special because I know this is it.”
