NORRISTOWN, PA — Authorities tracked down three men and a teenager wanted for a murder in Norristown earlier this month to a town in New York state about an hour north of Scranton, where they were arrested.

Damon Brantley Jr., 18, of Norristown, Daquan Allen, 29, of Norristown, and Jerry Butler, 28, of Philadelphia have all been charged with first and second degree murder, and robbery. A teen, who was not identified because he is underage, was also arrested on similar counts.

The group was taken into custody by U.S. Marshals at about 8 p.m. on Wednesday night in the town of Endicott, the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office announced Thursday afternoon. They were found inside a residence on Monroe Street.

“The arrest of these three dangerous defendants happened quickly thanks to the widespread sharing of the defendants’ photos by the public and by the media, which added pressure to these men,” DA Kevin Steele said.

Philadelphia U.S. Marshals, NY/NJ U.S. Marshals, and the Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force worked together on the arrest.

The incident occurred on Jan. 20 at around 7:40 p.m. on the zero block of West Wood Street in Norristown.

The trio were captured on video running from a gray Toyota RAV-4 and toward the victim, William Carter. They then robbed him before Brantley fired three shots at him, hitting him in the head and killing him, police said.

Authorities said they believe that the weapon has an illegal “switch” attached to it that allows it to fire extremely quickly, essentially becoming a fully automatic weapon.

Brantley was matched to the video surveillance in the incident because he wore the same clothing in the same vehicle to a Norristown High School basketball game earlier that day, police said.

The vehicle was stolen from Cheltenham on Dec. 21.

The suspects are in the process of being extradited back to Montgomery County where they will be arraigned. Preliminary hearings will be scheduled after their arraignments.
