Woman Accused Of Shooting Man With BB Gun In Concord Park: Follow-Up

CONCORD, NH — A woman from Concord, with a prior criminal history, was arrested on several felonies Tuesday, accused of shooting a man in Healy Park on March 16 with a BB gun.

Kaitlin Cook, 34, who has lived in Alton, Concord, and Manchester and has also been homeless, was arrested on first-degree assault with a deadly weapon, second-degree assault with a deadly weapon, criminal threatening with a deadly weapon, and reckless conduct with a deadly weapon charges, all felonies, on Tuesday, after a multi-day investigation into an incident at a homeless camp in the park.

Around 2:45 p.m. on March 16, police were called to the area around the Exit 13 onramp of Interstate 93 for a report of a man who had been shot. A Good Samaritan assisted the man who was on the ground, bleeding, before police and firefighters arrived, according to a witness.

Police, firefighters, and EMTs arrived, found the man, and he was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police closed and sealed the park and spent more than 12 hours investigating the incident after learning the man had been shot at a camp there.

“Numerous interviews were conducted, a search warrant was executed, and physical evidence was collected from the scene,” Deputy Chief John Thomas of the Concord Police Department said. “Kaitlin Cook was identified as the shooter.”

A warrant was issued against Cook on Friday and she was arrested on Tuesday. She was processed, refused bail, and was taken to the county jail. Cook will be arraigned in Concord District Court on Wednesday.

According to posts on Patch and court records, Cook has been arrested on theft, receiving stolen property, and marijuana distribution charges, driving violations, and warrants between 2010 and 2016.
