NORTH FORK, NY — A sweet shelter puppy desperately needs surgery, and a foster home, so that she can live a full and happy life.
“Help us help Janice,” said Gabrielle Stroup, director of operations at the North Fork Animal Welfare League.
Janice, she said, is a 5-month-old puppy who was found as a stray.

“Unfortunately, a few days ago, she was playing with another puppy at the shelter and injured her leg. Janice has what is called a tibia crest avulsion fracture and needs surgery immediately to repair it and live a long, happy life — pain-free,” she said.
The cost of surgery — which will be undertaken by Dr. Rosemary Lombarti at the North Fork Animal Hospital — and aftercare are expected to be about $4,000, Stroup said. “We need your help. Please donate— every penny helps.”

Janice will also need a foster home where she can recover, she said.
Donations can be made at the shelter, located at 269 Peconic Lane in Peconic, or online here.
