Unique Family-Owned Italian Eatery Opens In Greenwich

GREENWICH, CT — Pasta lovers looking to satisfy their cravings can do so at Constantino’s Pasta Bowls, the new family-owned Italian quick-serve restaurant located in the Chickahominy neighborhood of Greenwich.

Owned by Robyn Bordes and her husband Michael, and located at 160 Hamilton Ave., the restaurant is under the umbrella of the couple’s restaurant group that also includes Love You A Latte (right next door to Pasta Bowls), and Constantino’s of Greenwich (699 W. Putnam Ave.)

As the name suggests, customers can make their own fresh pasta bowls with over 80 combinations possible.

First, you can choose either spaghetti, penne, ziti, orecchiette, pappardelle, angel hair or rigatoni, and then you can pick your sauce: tomato and basil, parmesan and butter, cacio e pepe (cheese and pepper), pesto, sage and butter, lemon and extra virgin olive oil, vodka sauce, marinara, bolognese, fra diavolo, alfredo, or truffle.

The pasta can come in either a signature edible bread bowl, perfect for soaking up all that sauce, or in a basic bowl.

All pasta and sauces are made in-house, according to Bordes.

If you’re not in the mood for pasta, no worries.

Other menu items include salads, sandwiches, wraps and a burger; classic Italian entrees from chicken parmesan to chicken francese, chicken saltimbocca and lasagna; baked squash; trendy dishes such as taco burgers; filet mignon; vegetable side dishes; and desserts like tiramisu, cheesecake, churros and more.

“There’s definitely something for everyone,” Bordes said. “We’re actually going to be rolling out a vegan menu and a plant-based menu. We offer gluten-free pastas, so we want to make sure we cater to everyone’s needs and food sensitivities.”

The restaurant, which has 12 seats inside and two outdoors, officially opened on July 5. A grand opening celebration with food samples, giveaways and a ribbon-cutting ceremony has been scheduled for July 27.

Since the opening, Bordes said the reaction from the community has been “awesome.”

“My husband and I, we absolutely love the Greenwich community — we just can’t stress it enough,” Bordes said. “Everybody is so welcoming and supportive of local businesses, I think even more so businesses that aren’t necessarily franchises.”

Bordes started in the restaurant industry at the age of 13 as a bus girl for hot dog parties in an arcade.

She later worked at Villagio’s in Hartsdale, N.Y. for over 10 years, and eventually bought the business. Sales increased and the menu improved before Bordes sold the restaurant to her business partner in February 2021.

Wanting to get back into the restaurant industry, Bordes opened Constantino’s of Greenwich in 2022, a family-owned pizza and ice cream shop.

While Bordes was on her honeymoon in Greece about two years ago, she was inspired by a unique pasta shop there, and wanted to bring the pasta bowl concept to the U.S.

“We really tried to get the best quality food at affordable pricing, especially nowadays, and then add in that true Italian homemade sauce and homemade pasta,” she said.

Constantino’s Pasta Bowls is open Monday-Saturday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Love You A Latte, a coffee shop, opened up at 160 Hamilton Ave. earlier this year.

Bordes said the hours for Constantino’s Pasta Bowls and Love You A Latte will match from Wednesday to Sunday so after dinner, customers can pop over to the coffee shop for a fresh cappuccino.
