Global Gelato Brand To Open Storefront In Newport Beach

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — Orange County is getting a little sweeter come late September.

Global gelato brand Gelatissimo is opening two new storefronts in Orange County as part of its U.S. expansion, joining locations in Texas and Hawaii. The first storefront will be located in Balboa Island and will be joined by a second outpost in Irvine’s University Center later this year.

The brand is well-known for their photo-worthy, artisanal flavors, wholesome ingredients and made-fresh-in-store ethos.

The Balboa Island location will be operated by Orange County residents and franchisees Rey and Sarah Maninang, who told Patch the franchise opportunity was initially attractive thanks to the model and product.

“We were blown away by the superior flavor, creaminess and the natural ingredients — the mango flavor literally tastes like biting into a real, fresh mango,” Mananing said.

“There was a lot of synergy: my wife’s family owned the number one ice cream brand in the UK for years, so she’s an expert in the field of frozen desserts and we were looking for a formula-based business with a proven track record of success, so Gelatissimo fits the bill,” he said.

Gelatissimo is expected to open in Balboa Island late September.
