After Killing 2, Gunman Walks Into Station And Confesses: LAPD

LOS ANGELES, CA — A 50-year-old man is behind a deadly shooting spree in Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Police Department announced Wednesday.

As detectives searched for evidence at the scene of a fatal shooting in Mid-Wilshire, the killer walked into the police station and confessed, directing police to the scene of a second fatal shooting across town, LAPD Officer Jeffrey Lee told Patch.

Police arrested Marvin Magana, 50, of Los Angeles on suspicion of murder after he allegedly confessed to the killings within hours of taking two lives. He is being held on $3 million bail.

According to police, Magana deliberately struck a 43-year-old man riding an electric bike with his car in Mid-Wilshire at about 4:20 p.m. Tuesday. Magana shot the cyclist five times in a residential neighborhood in the 900 block of South Victoria Avenue, police said.

“Officers arrived and were directed to a male victim suffering from gunshot wounds,” the LAPD announced in a written statement. “He was pronounced deceased at scene by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics. Later, it was learned the suspect intentionally struck the victim with his vehicle prior to shooting him.”

The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of his family.

Within hours, Magana walked into the 77th Area police station and told police he was the shooter, and he directed them to a second body, according to the LAPD.

At around 10:30 p.m. Magana directed police to a vehicle located in the 800 block of South Berendo Street with a deceased 38-year-old female in the passenger’s seat, according to the LAPD. She suffered multiple gunshot wounds, and the Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene.

Her name was withheld, pending the notification of her relatives.
