MINOOKA —Travis Cerwin, a 34-year-old Minooka resident, was charged this week at the Will County Courthouse with four crimes of child pornography possession following an investigation by the Minooka Police Department.
The four charges against Cerwin are deemed Class X felonies. The criminal complaint submitted by Minooka Police Detective Shallyn Pera-Lopez indicated that the child depicted in the digital video engaged in sexual conduct is under the age of 13.
Even though the Will County Jail does not list Cerwin as being taken into the sheriff’s custody, the Will County State’s Attorney’s Office of Jim Glasgow believes Cerwin is a danger to his Minooka community.

According to the Will County State’s Attorney’s Office court filing:
On Sept. 17, Minooka police were notified by Channahon police of a child pornography cyber tip. Officers received a USB drive with a 1:51 minute-long video of a man having sexual intercourse with an adolescent girl, prosecutors said. In addition, Minooka police received subpoenaed materials from KIK, Comcast and Google that originated back to an internet provider address in Minooka.
The review of the KIK materials included conversations between Cerwin and an unknown person in which Cerwin requested explicit images of children, made the statement, “Im just looking for young girls” and an exchange of videos of the same, the court filings state.
Cerwin shared the video of child pornography through a private message on KIK and the video shared included a distinctive checkered blanket, prosecutors outlined.
This month, Minooka police obtained a search warrant to enter the Minooka man’s house and obtain his phone. On Oct. 10, the officers “uncovered a similar blanket to the one captured in the shared video. The defendant was placed in custody and transported to Minooka Police Department, where he was advised of his rights,” the court records reflect. “The defenant made partial admissions, including to owning the accounts used to disseminate child porn and that he was aware that he was in possession of a video with a prepubescent female.”
