Police Activity At Yankee Woods Linked To Missing Tinley Park Man

TINLEY PARK, IL — Police activity at Yankee Woods Preserve in Tinley Park is linked to the search for a missing Tinley Park man, an official said Thursday morning.

The 66-year-old man, whose name has only been disclosed as Daniel, left his home near 167th and Oak Forest Avenue Wednesday just before 5 a.m. He was on foot, and last seen wearing a dark-colored coat, shorts and shoes, Tinley Park police said Wednesday.

Drones and K9s were called in Wednesday afternoon to aid in the search. Tinley Park police and fire, Illinois Search and Rescue, the Cook County Sheriff’s Police and the Tinley Park Emergency Management Agency worked together Wednesday, and Cook County Forest Preserves Police took over command of the search Thursday morning.

Authorities were seen searching the woods near 167th and Central Avenue late into the night Wednesday and resuming Thursday morning. Additional information was not immediately available as of 10:30 a.m.
