Sevilla currently refusing to sell Kevin Gameiro

Sevilla will not sell star striker Kevin Gameiro for less than his €40 million, despite mounting interest from both Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, the club have confirmed.

The former Paris Saint-Germain striker joined the club for €10 million in 2013 and has a €40 million release clause written into his contract.

“It is true that there are clubs bidding for Gameiro, but we will not sell for less than 40 million,” Sevilla’s Vice President Jose Maria Del Nido Carrasco told Radio Sevilla.

“For €39m or €38.5m, we will not sell. We want Kevin to lead the project of Jorge Sampaoli.”

The club want Gameiro, who has scored 67 goals in three seasons in Seville, to renew his stay and erase the clause from any new deal.

“Kevin Gameiro is an extraordinary player and an extraordinary professional,” stated Sevilla President Pepe Castro who was speaking on COPE‘s “El Partido de las 12” radio show.

“He scored many goals last season. He has two more years on his contract with us and we want to renew that deal, and for him to continue with us with the same motivation and excitement for many more years.”
