Didier Deschamps suspected of possibly concealing abuse of corporate assets

According to the Journal du Dimanche, France boss Didier Deschamps is being treated as a possible suspect in the ongoing investigation into alleged financial malpractices at Olympique de Marseille.

The Sunday paper reports that Deschamps, who managed OM between 2009 and 2012, is suspected of possibly concealing abuses of corporate assets.

The judge overseeing the case, Guillaume Cotelle, signed an order appointing an expert witness on December 7th 2015 for the current French national team boss.

In this order, Cotelle asks an expert from the Court of Cassation several questions including: “What was the annual salary that Didier Deschamps received as Marseille manager?” and “Given the early termination of his contract, did Mr. Deschamps pay Marseille compensation and if so what amount?”

Finally, the judge also asked the expert witness to gather and gain access to all financial transactions and dealings between Marseille and Didier Deschamps.

While Deschamps’s involvement appears at this moment innocuous, this story is certainly one to watch out for in the coming days.
