Prayer Vigil For Joliet Teenager Who Died From Gunfire

JOLIET, IL — Family members and friends of 16-year-old Joliet murder victim Antoine Shropshire will have a balloon launch and candlelight vigil on Friday night on Joliet’s southeast side. The event will take near the site where Anthony was gunned down in the 400 block of South Joliet Street. Anthony is the third person to die in 2023 as a result of a homicide in Joliet.

So far, no arrests have been made in Anthony’s killing, but Joliet police have made arrests in the two prior murders.

Anthony’s mother notified Joliet Patch that Friday’s prayer vigil starts at 6 p.m. and may last until 8 p.m. Joliet Church Pastor Herb Brooks will be one of the main speakers and donations are being accepted.
