Bank Plans Renovations, Updates Of Burlington Branch

BURLINGTON, MA — Salem Five Bank has submitted plans to renovate its branch with a “modern design focused on improved customer service, dynamic Cambridge Street presence, and enhanced infrastructure improvements,” according to documents filed with the town.

Salem Five Bank has operated the location since 2015 following its merger with Stoneham Savings Bank, which previously operated the premises. The building was constructed around 1960 and has been a bank location for decades.

The existing bank branch and three drive-through lanes “are antiquated and provide limited efficiencies in the way of client services and building operations.”

The new site plans call for a 2,300-square-foot building with remote customer access from a single drive-though and emergency bypass lanes. The number of parking spaces will be reduced in line with zoning bylaws, according to the bank’s plan.

The proposed site design also includes an increase in the pervious surface area along with improved landscape design and an enhanced stormwater system.

The project was on the Oct. 19 Planning Board meeting agenda. The project includes an application for a special permit for the drive-through.
