Belleville Sisters Uplift Local Children With School Supply Giveaway

BELLEVILLE, NJ — For the Kossup sisters of Belleville, “back to school” season has become a chance to do a good deed.

Selena and Sabrina Kossup recently held a school supply giveaway for local children, handing out free kits with essentials like pencils, crayons, notebooks, markers and glue ahead of the first day of class on Sept. 5.

The sisters bought the supplies with their own savings, getting a chance for some sibling bonding as they put the packages together. On Aug. 24, they held a giveaway event in Belleville, getting a boost from a local restaurant, The Brunch Box, which hosted them and contributed water, juice and snacks for the families who showed up. Over the years, the sisters have left a lasting mark on Belleville with initiatives such as selling lawn signs to raise funds for the Belleville police and fire departments during the COVID-19 pandemic, distributing U.S. flags with the support of American Legion Post 105, supporting the Women’s Club of Belleville, and organizing food drives that have benefited St. Peter’s Church, Little Zion U.A.M.E. Church and local families in need.

The siblings’ efforts have earned some well-deserved respect from their parents, Sandra and Chris Kossup.

“My husband and I are so proud of the girls making small gestures in town that go a long way,” Sandra Kossup beamed.
