SAN DIEGO, CA — A new Chick-fil-A opened its doors Thursday in Chula Vista, marking the 21st location in San Diego County.
Chick-fil-A Chula Vista West opened at 6 a.m. for dine-in, drive-thru, carry out and outdoor ordering through a walk-up window. The location joins 20 other Chick-fil-A restaurants serving the San Diego region — and the second for owner-operator Michael Gonzales.
“Opening my second Chick-fil-A restaurant in Chula Vista is an incredible opportunity to serve this vibrant community,” Gonzales told Patch. “I’m excited to continue giving back by creating more jobs and providing growth opportunities for local team members. It’s an honor to expand our impact, support local organizations, and serve our guests with delicious food and exceptional hospitality.”

Gonzales, a graduate of Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, decided to combine his passion for entrepreneurship and people development into a career with Chick-fil-A. After honing his skills for more than four years in the Chick-fil-A Leadership Development Program, Gonzales became the owner-operator of Chick-fil-A Mile of Cars Way in National City.

He said he remains dedicated to serving customers and the community at his first location, while also taking on the challenge of opening a new restaurant.
“I chose to pursue a career with Chick-fil-A because of how it cares for its people and the communities it’s in,” he said. “My goal is to develop leaders within my team while serving our guests delicious food with exceptional hospitality. I’m truly grateful for the opportunity to expand our impact with the opening of Chick-fil-A Chula Vista West.”
In celebration of the opening, the fast food restaurant chain donated $25,000 to Feeding America to support local hunger relief efforts of Feeding San Diego.
In addition, Gonzales’ restaurant will participate in the Chick-fil-A Shared Table program, an initiative that redirects surplus food from the restaurant to local soup kitchens, shelters, food banks and nonprofits in need. Chick-fil-A Chula Vista West will also recognize 100 local heroes making an impact in the Chula Vista area by providing them with free Chick-fil-A entrées for a year, according to the company.
Chick-fil-A Chula Vista West will be open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday at 3571 Broadway in Chula Vista.
