Lorient central defender Lamine Koné has joined Premier League side Sunderland this afternoon after successfully undergoing a medical with the North East side.
The player has signed his contract with the club which runs for 4.5 years after Lorient accepted an offer from the Black Cats yesterday afternoon. According to Foot Mercato, that fee is worth €6.5m plus bonuses.
This deal will be official imminently and comes after the player very nearly joined Sunderland already at the beginning of the window, only for the Black Cats to call the move off at the last minute.
